Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on using various imaging techniques and practices to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. It involves performing CT Scan duties, utilizing CT Scan Technology to provide images of internal organs, bones, and soft tissue. The role is a clinical technologist position requiring specialized knowledge gained through vocational education, training, and experience. It is most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs. An experienced level role that works under moderate supervision, handling routine problems, and occasionally requiring interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Technologist program.
- One (1) year of experience as a CT Technologist.
- Radiologic Technologist License.
- American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB).
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Radiation Control Board.
- CT Advanced Registry from AART or registry eligible.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties below describe the general nature of work and are not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.
- Follow hospital protocol for exam routines and produce quality studies efficiently.
- Operate all equipment in the department or request training in specific areas.
- Properly warm up the CT scanner, run QA, and manage related equipment.
- Complete CT procedures effectively, providing appropriate patient feedback and maintaining a clean environment.
- Adjust and manipulate images to required specifications.
- Select proper scanning levels depending on the scan and organ.
- Ensure scans are properly identified with all necessary information.
- Complete administrative tasks such as editing, escorting patients, and cleaning.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the Coordinator or delegate.
- Report findings to physicians and access RadPortal if necessary.
- Restore prior exams for radiologists and burn CDs for patients or ER if requested.
- Maintain stock rooms and keep work areas clean and functional.
- Perform clerical duties to maintain workflow and quality.
- Interact well with staff, other departments, and physicians as a team player.
- Exceed patient expectations for quality service.
- Identify patients accurately and educate them professionally about procedures.
- Meet customer needs proactively and resolve issues or escalate as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs.
- Manual dexterity for operating radiology equipment.
- Sufficient hearing and visual acuity for examinations and equipment alarms.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Clerical skills.
- Knowledge of scanners, Med Rad injections, PACs, VRC, Powerscribe.
