Job Description - CT Scan Technologist - Part Time Evening (East Hampton Emergency Dept) (2403241)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust. Capable of working independently/unsupervised. Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of Cat Scan Imaging Exams. Must produce computerized tomographic scanner Radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established policies and procedures. Must prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consent, patient chart documentation, and other related duties. Must observe sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary. Check equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. Assess the physical needs of the adult and geriatric patients. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. Complete requested examinations in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards. Address the special needs of each age group served and assist in making reasonable accommodations for patients. Observe bio-safety and Radiation safety rules and regulations. Responsibilities and duties may be added, changed, or deleted at any time at the discretion of the Director/Assistant Director of Radiology. Performs related duties in PACS. Responsible for knowing and adhering to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety. Must be computer literate. Must select and operate equipment as directed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of diagnostic and CAT scan imaging examinations.
  • Maintain established Department policies and procedures.
  • Verifies the correct patient for the procedure by checking the name on the patient's requisitions with the name on the patient's name band.
  • Explains the procedure to the patient before the exam is performed. Answers questions completely in lay terminology.
  • Correctly labels images with patient identification.
  • Prepares or enters written documentation as required by the Department.
  • Checks requested examinations in a timely manner, utilizing professional technical skills efficiently.
  • Transports patient to and from radiographic.
  • Sends images to PACS including evaluating images for technical quality.
  • Performs portable and Operating Room / CT examinations in a professional and timely manner.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in dealing with patients of all age groups.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel and patient information.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Graduate
  • Graduate of Radiology Program
  • NYSDOH License, ARRT
  • CT Certification / Certified to inject (preferred)
  • Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Computer knowledge preferred

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination.

  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
