Job summary

The University of Miami Hospital - UTower Imaging Services is seeking a full-time Radiologic Technologist to operate imaging equipment, verify patient identity, obtain consent, and ensure safety during procedures.

The position requires ARRT registration, an Associate degree in a relevant field, and at least one year of experience. Evening and weekend shifts may be required, in a collaborative, patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patients' identity by name and date of birth.
• Operates imaging procedures under radiologist supervision.
• Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast and adjusts settings as required.
• Maintains and cleans equipment per decontamination procedures.
• Assists radiologist during procedures and ensures patient safety and infection control.
• Notifies changes in patient status to appropriate staff.
• Adheres to university policies and safeguards university assets.

Shift: Full-Time - (40 hrs. M-F) Days (depending on availability) (Occasional on-call and rotating weekends may be required)

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

• Verifies patients' ID by checking their name and date of birth.
• Conducts patient interviews to describe level of discomfort or pain prior to, during, and after the exam.
• Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedures.
• Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
• Supervises and performs imaging procedures under the direction of a radiologist using age appropriate standards of practice.
• Performs venipunctures, contrast administration, and other relevant procedures in a safe manner.
• Notifies appropriate person of any change(s) in patients' status.
• Assists the radiologist throughout procedures, with all the necessary supplies.
• Follows safety, security, and infection control standards.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services provided.
• Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast, adjusting all settings and parameters according to procedure requirements and radiologist preference.
• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment
