Job Summary and Qualifications
The CT Scan Technologist maintains technical skills to perform CT procedures, operates equipment to maximize patient safety and image quality, prepares rooms, and manages digital images. Uses appropriate information to identify patient needs and provides care per policies and procedures. Maintains intravenous access and may inject medications under physician direction.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic CT procedures with minimal radiation exposure and maximum image quality
- Demonstrate competency in CT, positioning, procedure preparation, and technical factors; follow CT protocol, radiologist preferences, and ACR guidelines
- Obtain patient consent for metals and contrast; collect relevant surgical history prior to exams
- Document procedures in information systems; record STAT reads per departmental policy
- Maintain cleanliness and inventory of the lab, follow disinfection procedures, restock supplies, and keep work areas organized
- Adhere to ACR QC requirements and internal policies
Education and Experience
- Education: Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or an Associate or higher degree
- Experience: None required (initial and ongoing training and competencies provided by the service line/department)
- Preferred: Two years CT Technologist experience; Associate Degree in Radiology Technology
Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
- Required: CMRT – Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board
- Preferred: ARRT registry in CT modality
