Job summary

Veterans in Healthcare in Gaffney, SC, is seeking a CT Scan Technician to perform X‑ray and CT imaging. The role includes preparing patients, operating scanners, and ensuring image quality, safety, and proper documentation. Weekend shift (Fri–Sun, 8A–8P) with a sign‑on bonus is offered.

Responsibilities include assisting radiologists, placing IVs, contrast administration, QA, and training new staff as needed. ARRT radiography and CT certs are required; BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 24‑month accredited School of Radiologic Technology plus completion of an accredited CT program.
• Current ARRT Registry in Radiography and Advanced CT certification.
• Current SCQRSA.
• BLS Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Operate X‑Ray and CT scanners and related equipment following radiation safety procedures.
• Evaluate image quality and label images; document and transmit to PACS.
• Assist with imaging procedures, IV starts, oral contrast delivery and contrast injections as applicable.
• Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic X‑ray and interventional CT procedures.
• Maintain equipment and perform QA and compliance with policies and procedures.

Position Summary

The X‑ray/CT Technologist performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of X‑ray and CT scans.

Minimum Requirements

• Completion of a 24‑month accredited and approved School of Radiologic Technology plus completion of an accredited CT program

• Current ARRT Registry in Radiography and Advanced certification in CT
• Current SCQRSA
• BLS Certification (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of X‑Ray and CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for X‑Ray and CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
• Evaluate X‑Ray and CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence per protocol and appropriately label. Complete appropriate documentation on all systems, mark review and transmit to PACS in a timely manner.
• Assist other healthcare professionals with imaging procedures, starting IVs, delivery of oral contrast and injecting contrast when applicable.
• Assist radiologist with fluoroscopic X‑ray and interventional CT procedures.
• Positively respond and implement change when needed and exhibit good decision‑making skills.
• Assist with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area.
• Properly utilize accessory equipment such as injectors, patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations.
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients, report changes in patient condition to medical staff and provide an oral and/or written clinical history to the radiologist and other healthcare professionals.
• Assist in training of new staff and of students during clinical rotations.
• Follow, maintain and help implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Consistently communicate with patients, guests, staff and physicians in a positive manner.
• Know compliance and regulatory requirements and adhere to federal, state, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests and facilities.
• Adhere to departmental procedures and protocols.
• Work as a team member with peers and other departments; respond calmly and efficiently to situations.
• Regularly attend departmental meetings, in‑services and actively participate in continuing education activities.
• Other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.
• May be assigned to cover additional shifts as required to meet departmental needs.
