Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, Indiana, is seeking a CT Technologist for the weekday night shift to operate the CT scanner, perform quality control, and assist Radiologists with procedures. You will optimize imaging protocol, minimize radiation exposure, and communicate with patients in clear terms.

Qualified candidates hold ARRT RT(R) or RT(CT) credentials, a current Indiana radiographer license, and BLS certification; at least one year of CT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Licensure: RT(R) or RT(CT) ARRT credential, Indiana Radiographer license, BLS.
• Experience: 1 year CT scanning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT scanner and perform quality control on equipment.
• Respond to equipment issues and apply correct exam protocols.
• Produce high-quality images with minimal radiation exposure.
• Assist Radiologists with invasive procedures.
• Perform CT Angiography and reconstructions on workstation.
• Communicate delays and explain exams in lay terms to patients.
• Document histories and relay information to referring physicians.

What you'll do:

The CT Scan Tech p erforms all functions and operations of the CT Scanner as well as the necessary quality control on equipment. Responds to equipment failure. Selects the correct Radiologist scanning exam protocols to produce exams consistent with diagnosis, symptoms and patient history. Produces images of high technical quality while keeping radiation doses as low as possible and causing little or no discomfort to the patient. Handles quality assurance of all images for correct imaging windows. Assists Radiologists with invasive procedures. Performs CT Angiography of all vessels and exhibits competency utilizing the workstation for all advanced reconstructions. Supplies and handles medical emergency situations including reactions to contrast media. Communicates skillfully and tactfully in all situations. Informs patients concerning delays and in the explanation of the exams in lay terminology. Completes histories for the Radiologist and communicate to referring Physicians concerning the exams. Demonstrates master of IV sites and Creatinine using appropriate analyzer.

Position requirements:

Licensure: R.T. (R) (ARRT) or R.T. (CT) (ARRT) credential. Current Indiana Radiographer license. Healthcare BLS certification.

Experience: 1 year of current or recent experience in CT scanning preferred.
