Abode Energy Management LLC is seeking a Decarbonization Advisor in Connecticut for a hybrid role. You will lead field outreach, recruit contractors, educate on Pilot requirements, and coordinate with partners to advance heat pump adoption and decarbonization efforts across CT.

Summary/Objective

Abode currently implements decarbonization programs across MA, CT, and RI, supporting customers as they explore decarbonization solutions for their homes, assisting contractors to fully leverage program rebates for their customers, and collaborating with partners and clients to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems. TheDecarbonization Advisor(Advisor) will work alongside a team to lead field-based outreach campaigns to various stakeholders including commercial customers, industry partners, program contractors, and community organizations. This role will also assist the Program Manager and Decarbonization Specialists with day-to-day projects and support the team in resolving customer and contractor issues. This is a dynamic role that requires someone who enjoys managing multiple projects and priorities, while having the self-discipline to see projects to completion. Depending on the aptitude of the applicant, the Specialist role and responsibilities may evolve over time to support more technical delivery of program services, like performing heat pump consultations with customers.This is a terrific opportunity for someone who wants to bring their strong communication, analytical, and project management skills to help realize the climate impacts of electrification.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Manager and working closely with Abode’s Residential Decarbonization team, this position will focus primarily on Abode’s role in the Connecticut Innovation Hub State Pilot under the New England Heat Pump Accelerator (NEHPA) and will include some or all of the following responsibilities broken out into the following categories:

Engagement (Contractors, Partners, and Stakeholders):

• Identify, recruit, and onboard 15–20 contractors to participate in the Pilot, starting with high-volume contractors and expanding participation to meet the Pilot’s completion goal
  • Call and email contractors
  • Schedule onboarding and check-in meetings
• Collaborate with HVAC industry partners, including distributors, manufacturers, and other stakeholders, to support training and outreach efforts
  • Identify engagement opportunities and organize participation
  • Attend in-person events (one or more per week)
  • Create, seek approval for, and oversee scheduling and implementation of contractor onboarding and training, including refreshers as needed
  • Proactively help develop new industry training opportunities
• Actively manage and respond to email and phone inquiries, primarily from participating contractors
  • Connect customers and contractors with appropriate services
  • Provide ongoing issue resolution and support
  • Maintain response service levels and document resolutions in Salesforce
• Attend client-facing meetings, coordinate day to day with Eversource, VEIC, and Pilot vendors (Resource Innovations, BeRemote, and True View), and represent the program with external stakeholders

Technical Consulting (Applying and Sharing Technology and Program Knowledge):

• Support and deliver contractor education and training on Pilot eligibility and LMI definitions, price-parity messaging, project documentation, federal cross-cutting requirements, and reporting requirements
• Develop and maintain contractor-facing resources, including marketing materials, talking points, and customer engagement resources that support the price-parity concept, and submit them for program marketing approval
• Provide virtual consultations to residential customers considering decarbonization solutions, with an initial focus on heat pumps.
  • Stay current with evolving standards for the recommended design and installation of heat pumps, providing fact-based, useful advice to homeowners and contractors.
• Continue to grow in technical and program knowledge to effectively support contractors, partners, and customers
• Adapt to evolving program needs and requirements
• Identify implementation barriers and work with stakeholders to improve Pilot delivery and effectiveness

Administration (Reporting, Data Management, and Program Support):

• Maintain and update program databases and customer management systems
  • Track contractor participation, training attendance documentation, and implementation barriers
  • Update and maintain relevant databases, records, and resources
• Support program staff through administrative tasks and document/material creation
  • Collaborate daily with program team members and stakeholders
  • Assist with development of program materials and collateral
• Provide ongoing reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including Eversource and VEIC
  • Track, summarize, and analyze key performance indicators and program data
  • Support the annual fossil fuel and central AC retrofit pricing analysis, using Energize CT rebate and town permit data
  • Prepare invoices and related reports
  • Prepare and distribute the monthly Pilot activity and contractor participation summary within five business days of month end
  • Support Eversource and VEIC in incorporating Pilot insights and lessons learned into program reports

This role will evolve over time to encompass new or changing responsibilities as our programs mature, including the possibility to work across multiple programs.

Qualifications

Strong candidates for this position will bring most, if not all, of the following skills and experience:

• Ongoing stakeholder relationship management experience in the CT territory, ideally in the building trades or related field.
• Currently resides in CT with the ability to travel regularly across the state.
• Bachelor’s degree or at least 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated passion for and interest in sustainability, building science or climate change.
• Previous experience working in a fast-paced office environment in project management or communications capacity.
• Strong aptitude for working with or learning software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with customer relationship management software such as Salesforce would be a plus, as would be experience with performing quantitative analysis in Excel or similar tools.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Calm, even temperament suited to meeting people with different needs and backgrounds where they are.
• Adaptable, flexible, collaborative team player who brings a positive can-do attitude.
• A self-starter, able to proactively manage competing demands and changing schedules to complete tasks in a timely and diligent manner.

In addition to the above, the following skills and/or experience would be a plus:

• Demonstrated experience of reviewing technical material
• Heat Pump knowledge
• Previous experience training/educating others
• Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position with total compensation targeted between $70K and $80K, depending on relevant skills and experience. TheDecarbonization Advisorwill work most of the time out of their own home, with some travel as needed to work with other staff in Abode’s Massachusetts office and/or to attend events or meetings.
