Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for the Joint Replacement service. The role is PRN with a day shift from 6:30 am to 7:00 pm and involves supporting the Joint Replacement team in a fast-paced operating room environment.

The ideal candidate will hold NBSTSA certification and a current BLS card, with an education path ranging from a high school diploma plus experience to an associate/technical degree.

Qualifications

BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date or transfer date.
NBSTSA credentialed as Surgical Technologist prior to hire date or transfer date.
High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and instruments.
Hand required instruments to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments and monitor counts throughout procedures.

Responsibilities

Facilitate the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
Hand required/requested instruments and supply to surgeon during surgery.
Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor/track instruments counts throughout procedures.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
