Job description

ProMedica Flower Hospital is located in Sylvania, OH, a suburb of Toledo. The hospital is situated in a beautiful landscape and offers a high-quality lifestyle with excellent public schools, outdoor activities at Pacesetter Park, entertainment at Centennial Terrace and Downtown Sylvania, and hosts the annual LPGA tournament. The campus is a 311-bed facility housing the Hickman Cancer Center, ER Trauma Center, and regional inpatient adult psychiatric services. It also includes the Goerlich Center for patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, and the Ebeid Center hospice facility.

Position Summary:

The Surgical Technician is a member of the Labor and Delivery team, responsible for duties in the scrub role. The technician maintains the sterile field and assists with surgical procedures. Responsibilities include:

1. Proficiency in scrub techniques, instrument handling, and equipment management following policies and procedures.
2. Preparation for cases using preference lists, anatomy knowledge, and patient needs; collaborates with the clinical nurse to update preference cards.
3. Maintaining sterile integrity through aseptic techniques and team observation.
4. Collaborating with the circulating nurse on sponge, instrument, and sharp counts.
5. Checking daily schedules and supplies, assisting with procedures as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
• License: Certified Surgical Technician or LPN licensure in Ohio, or obtained within one year of hire.
• Certifications: BLS required.
• Experience: Prior experience in Labor & Delivery preferred.
• Skills: Ability to follow directions, communicate effectively, and use a computer.
