Job summary

Sips Consults in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a CSPD Quality Assurance Technician (Sterile Processing) to support the Quality Information System and reliability testing. This role executes day-to-day QA tasks, captures field issues, analyzes data, and reports findings to management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of Sterile Processing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Documents improvement findings and updates; submits reports to delegated management.
  • Creates, records, and maintains accurate in-service records with complete accuracy as required by the customer and regulatory agencies.
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities under the direction of the management.
  • Assist the operating room team by preparing the OR point of use reprocessing and returning tray instruments to Sterile Processing.
  • Practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
  • Apply appropriate cleaning techniques in the sterile processing.
  • Participate in procedure auditing of the trays and assessing the instruments for return.
  • Assist with In-service and training of new personnel at the direction of management and when needed.
  • Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for: quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation compliance requirements.
  • Makes processes efficient and implements new services for areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain instrument calibration, documentation, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of quality assurance activities.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of retained products and scrap products no longer needed.
  • A successful QA Tech will be highly motivated; able to multi-task and can communicate effectively with all levels within the company.
  • Capable of working independently, as well as in group settings.
  • Plans, develops, and supports the implementation of a quality assurance program that promotes quality patient care.
  • Perform work in a cost-effective manner.
  • Assists supervisors on performing QA reviews on staff as needed.
  • Coordinate QA feedback to respective management positions.
  • Work with the leadership staff in Central Processing to improve programs where needed.
  • Responsible for adherence of quality control on all sterilizers (i.e. biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring) according to the standards set by: JACHO, AORN, and AAMI.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the facility.
  • Support in decontamination as instructed or required by management.
  • Performs other duties as management may direct.

The CSPD Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech) will assist in the development of statistical analysis and trend data to maintain the Quality Information System (QIS). The position is responsible for conducting day-to-day operations needed for successful capture of field issues and reliability testing. This includes but is not limited to receipt, test, analysis, and reporting.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years of Sterile Processing experience
  • IAHCSMM/HSPA or CBSPD Central Sterile Processing Technician Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Sonar and Tray Audit Experience- required
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, and Asset management systems
  • Must be able to work in a cooperative manner
  • Ability to comply with SIPS' Attendance Policy
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation of instruments and equipment in the department.
  • Thorough knowledge of aseptic technique principles and ability to apply such principles when orienting staff at hospitals.
  • Have knowledge of and the ability to stay in compliance with applicable infection control policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution.

Preferred

  • 1 year of SPD Supervisor experience
  • 2-3 years of CSPD Educator experience
  • Associate’s degree in business, Nursing or Healthcare Administration
