Description of Job

About the Work Unit

This position is part of the CSP Electronic Media Unit, responsible for managing electronic records created by the Colorado State Patrol, including maintenance, retrieval, protection, retention, and destruction of records.

Work Environment

  • Office-based, sedentary work, Monday-Friday. Initial training in-person for 10 weeks, then hybrid options may be available.

About the Job

Under supervision, serves as an Electronic Media Records Technician, providing direct service to CSP, criminal justice agencies, and District Attorneys. Manages records, ensures quality and compliance, and performs technical tasks related to digital media.

Key Responsibilities

Records Management: Handles confidential records, including digital and electronic formats, and collaborates with law enforcement agencies. Processes digital media such as body-worn cameras, in-car cameras, and dispatch records, including review and redaction for public release, and manages billing for copies.

Liaison: Communicates effectively with internal and external partners, attends hearings, and provides testimony. Demonstrates cultural awareness.

Occupational Job Functions: Includes hearing, near acuity, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, and talking, with specific physical and sensory requirements outlined.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of professional experience in records management with sensitive/confidential information, OR
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.

Substitutions: Additional education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis. Unofficial transcripts required if education substitutes experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with law enforcement records, audio/video editing, multiple media platforms, and proficiency in computer software including Adobe, Windows, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace. Experience with digital video editing and redaction tools is a plus.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a Colorado resident at application.
  • Successful background check, polygraph, fingerprinting, and drug testing required.
  • Completion of CCRN Master Records Technician Certification within one year of appointment.
