Job summary

Lovelace Health System in Albuquerque, NM is seeking a dedicated Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) for a day shift, full-time position in Labor and Delivery. The role supports the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, and closure, ensuring efficient intraoperative flow and optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include preoperative setup, postoperative breakdown, mastery of sterile technique and instrumentation, and adherence to hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program and completion of a recognized Surgical First Assistant program.
• Anatomy and Physiology, sterile technique, medical terminology, instrumentation, and medical equipment knowledge.
• Competencies: Sterilization techniques; OR instruments and supplies; medical terminology; critical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and intraoperative functions to help the surgeon be more efficient in the OR with optimal results for the patient.
• Performs preoperative setup and postoperative breakdown of the operating room to facilitate efficiency.
• Demonstrates sterile technique, instrumentation, equipment, and sterile field setup, including sterilization methods and verification.
• Performs these functions during the operation under the direction of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and laws; CSFA certification required.
