MINKS YFS in Richmond, VA seeks a Certified Substance Abuse Counseling Assistant (CSAC-A) to provide treatment support under supervision within the individual’s treatment plan.

You will orient clients, assist with recovery plans, coordinate case-management activities, help access housing and services, participate in treatment-team meetings, and document progress while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Orient individuals to the substance use disorder treatment program, including program expectations, schedules, rules, services, rights, and responsibilities.
  • Assist with implementation of individualized substance use treatment and recovery plans as directed by appropriately credentialed clinical staff.
  • Provide case-management activities, including coordination with community resources and other service providers.
  • Assist individuals in accessing housing, transportation, medical care, benefits, and employment resources.
  • Participate in recovery-oriented group discussions within the CSAC-A's permitted scope of practice.
  • Reinforce recovery concepts, coping strategies, relapse-prevention skills, and healthy routines.
  • Observe and document individuals' participation, behaviors, progress, needs, and response to treatment interventions.
  • Complete progress notes, case-management documentation, service coordination records, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Assist with substance-use or dependence crisis intervention under appropriate supervision or direction.
  • Communicate significant changes in an individual's condition, behavior, relapse risk, safety, or treatment participation to the appropriate supervisor or clinical professional.
  • Participate in treatment-team meetings, case consultations, staff meetings, and required supervision.
  • Assist with referrals, linkage to community services, discharge planning, and continuity-of-care activities as assigned and permitted by credential.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, DBHDS, DMAS, and agency requirements.
  • Maintain current CSAC-A certification and complete required training and continuing education.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the employee's CSAC-A credential, demonstrated competency, agency policy, and Virginia law.

Job description

Position Summary:
The Certified Substance Abuse Counseling Assistant (CSAC-A) provides substance use disorder treatment support services under appropriate supervision or direction in accordance with Virginia Board of Counseling requirements, DBHDS regulations, DMAS requirements, agency policies, and the individual's treatment/service plan. The CSAC-A supports individuals in developing and maintaining recovery skills while working as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
