Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a CSA Design Engineer based in Aiken, SC, to implement DOE standards for the Savannah River Site.

The CSA Design Engineer will create structural computations, evaluate designs, and provide input to projects and plant modifications, while reviewing procedures and procurement specs. SRMC offers a competitive benefits package in a purpose‑driven DOE environment.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's in Civil/Structural Eng.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Experience with STAAD, ANSYS or similar codes.
• Knowledge of IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI and NFPA‑13.
• Ability to review procedures and perform walkdowns.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.

Overview

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a CSA (Civil/Structural/Architectural) Design Engineer to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

The CSA Design Engineer in the Design Services organization implements solutions to engineering challenges to meet standards set by the Department of Energy (DOE) for the Savannah River Mission Completion project.

Responsibilities

• Create structural computations and design deliverables of various structures for new construction and modification purposes


• Provide structural engineering evaluations of new designs and field construction to determine the adequacy of the design with respect to safety basis and applicable building code requirements


• Provide civil/structural design input to new projects and plant modifications


• Review and approve relevant procedures


• Perform self-assessments of existing programs and procedures related to Structural Engineering roles and responsibilities


• Review and approve procurement specifications


• Review supplier submittals and documents


• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Civil Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university; or


• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university with years of relevant professional engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineers (PE) License


• Knowledge of advanced engineering principles and practices to develop appropriate outputs


• Working knowledge of the conventional technology in the specialized field, computer applications, Industry Codes and Standards, design control, and Department of Enery Requirements

• Experience with engineered procurement of structural components


• Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing environment of multiple demands and shifting directions and priorities.


• Good organizational and communication skills. Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both verbally and in writing.


• Ability to perform walkdowns

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract.
