Job summary

The University of Cincinnati seeks a Staff Crystallographer to operate and maintain a full-service laboratory for single-crystal crystallography and X-ray powder diffraction. The role includes data collection, structure determination, and supporting biochemical groups with crystal mounting and screening.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) and 3 years of relevant experience; teaching CHEM 8046 and contributing to undergraduate labs are also expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Three years of relevant work experience in a specialized field, process or discipline.
• Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field considered.
• Experience with diffraction instrumentation and cryogenic device maintenance and repairs considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist in coordinating research studies across disciplines focused on matter, energy, materials, chemistry, physics, and laboratory-based physical systems research.
• Contribute to projects using professional training or experience; solve problems and autonomously drive projects.
• Analyze data, organize data search procedures, and assess validity of results.
• Assist in designing complex data processing systems for research data; support manuscript preparation and publication.
