Job summary

Alpaca, a US-headquartered broker-dealer, seeks a hands-on operations professional to monitor customer activity and support AML/compliance initiatives. This global remote role focuses on trading operations, onboarding (KYC), and cash management, with core hours 9am–5pm PT.

You will work across teams to resolve discrepancies, review ledgers, and drive workflow improvements while staying adaptable to evolving regulations and delivery of exceptional service to our diverse customer base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years in broker-dealer, financial services, trading or cryptocurrency operations.
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency or strong desire to learn.
• Work effectively in a team and independently.
• Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Adapt to a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
• Enjoys taking ownership and new responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily customer activity and surveillance.
• Handle daily operations including trading, new accounts, and cash management.
• Crypto trading executions and exceptions handling.
• Assist with onboarding, including KYC and account approvals.
• Review general ledger accounts and reconcile discrepancies.
• Support AML program and investigations of suspicious activity.
• Drive workflow/process improvements across policies and tools.
• Communicate clearly with internal and external partners.
• Take on ad hoc duties and projects.

Things You Get To Do:

• Primary responsibility for the daily monitoring and surveillance of all customer activity

• Primary responsibility for daily operational tasks including trading, new accounts, and cash management functions;

  • Cryptocurrency trading executions and exceptions (errors, corrections, etc.)

  • Assist with customer onboarding, including KYC and account approval

  • Review of general ledger accounts, identify and reconcile account discrepancies

• Support the Anti-Money Laundering Program and investigations that result from suspected suspicious activity

• Proactively drive impactful changes across workflows, policies and tools

• Clearly communicate with internal and external partners in an effective, tactical, and insightful manner

• Ad hoc duties and projects as assigned

• Global remote location, core time around 9am to 5pm PT (working hours: 8 hours per day, holidays follow the US market holidays)

Who You Are (Must-Haves):

• Excited about what Alpaca is building!!

• 3+ years of relevant experience in a broker-dealer, financial services, trading or cryptocurrency operations role

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

• Familiarity with cryptocurrency, or a strong desire to learn

• Work effectively and supportively within a team environment as well as work independently

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

• Must possess the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business and regulatory environment

• Enjoys challenges and taking ownership of new responsibilities
