Job summary

McLane Classic Foods in Burleson, TX seeks a full-time Fill Room worker to ensure smooth product flow from kitchen to freezer and back to pack-off. You will maintain Cryovac records, assemble/disassemble equipment, and verify scales and metal detectors during shifts.

Responsibilities include PET packaging inspection, pouch sealing adjustments, GMP adherence, and coordination with cooks and leads to meet staffing and quality standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent.
• Be able to stand, stoop, bend and climb steps for extended periods of time.
• Be able to lift film rolls (50lbs.) to place on machine.
• Be able to lift pipes overhead to assemble/disassemble equipment.
• Be able to work in cold or hot, wet environment for 8-10 hour shifts.
• Basic literacy (English) and math skills.
• Working knowledge of vertical form fill/seal machines, code daters, metal detectors, pumps and electric motors.

Responsibilities

• Understand all job functions of the Fill Room and ensure product flow from the kitchen to the freezer and from the freezer to pack-off.
• Assemble/Disassemble equipment, pipes, magnets, packaging parts and equipment, film, etc. daily.
• Calibrate scales and metal detectors; verify function throughout the production shift.
• Perform magnet inspections throughout the shift.
• Communicate with kitchen cooks and pack-off lead to determine staffing needs to ensure product flow and maintain the quality and safety of the product.
• Inspect packaging materials, track film usage, ensure package integrity vis seal checks and strength tests.
• Adjust Cryovac packaging machine to ensure pouch seal, integrity, print coding and appearance are within acceptable parameters and customer specification.
• Perform scale verification.
• Control and document pouch weights, magnet inspections, metal detector verification, film usage, etc.
• Ensure sanitary conditions maintained and fill room employees comply with GMPs.
• Clean and inspect equipment in between product changeovers.
• Provide direction and support to fill room team members to include how to flatten pouches before they enter into the spiral freezer.
• Additional responsibilities as instructed by Production Line Lead or Production Supervisor.
• Adhere to plant GMPs and safety guidelines.
