Job summary

Plug Power in Layfette, IN is seeking an hourly Cryogenic Trailer Painter I to prepare, paint, and finish trailer surfaces and parts according to quality and safety standards.

The role requires knowledge of paint, body filler, finishes, spray equipment, and strict adherence to environmental regulations. Attention to detail and ability to use spray guns and refinishing tools are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
  • Experience in automotive painting, refinishing, or collision repair (preferred).
  • Knowledge of paint mixing, application techniques, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to operate spray guns, sanding tools, and refinishing equipment.
  • You must be fit for and able to wear full face respirator.
  • Understanding and following safety practices and chemical handling procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
  • Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and prep trailer bottles and parts before blast.
  • Hang and paint small trailer parts.
  • Sand parts and trailers to prepare for paint procedure.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure high-quality finish standards.
  • Repair minor surface imperfections, including scratches, dents, and corrosion areas.
  • Maintain painting equipment, spray booths, and tools in proper working condition.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and hazardous material handling regulations.
  • Perform quality checks and complete touch-ups as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Document work performed and communicate with technicians or supervisors regarding job status.
  • Electronically recording products sprayed and amounts of products used.
  • Operating a blast booth and performing material prep with blast media.

Cryogenic Trailer Painter I

Status : Hourly

Location: Layfette, IN

Position Summary

The Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing trailer surfaces and parts to restore or enhance appearance according to company quality standards and safety procedures. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of paint, body filler, finishes, spray equipment, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Wash and prep trailer bottles and parts before blast.
  • Hang and paint small trailer parts.
  • Sand parts and trailers to prepare for paint procedure.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and ensure high-quality finish standards.

  • Fork truck experience.
Work Environment
  • Body shop or manufacturing facility setting.
  • Exposure to paint fumes, chemicals, and noise (PPE required).
  • Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motion required.
  • Factory setting with cranes and fork truck equipment.
  • Blast booth environment with PPE required.
Pay Rate

$21.00 - $29.50
