Job summary

Fermilab in Batavia, IL seeks a cryogenic Plant Operator to support the operation, installation and commissioning of cryogenic equipment and related mechanical systems. You will work in the Magnet Test Facility and Vertical Cavity Test Facility, collaborating with engineers and technicians to perform measurements and testing.

You should have an HS degree or technical certificate, 5+ years of related experience (or 3+ years in a DOE lab), and be able to lift, operate tools, and work overtime

Qualifications

• HS degree or technical certificate or equivalent.
• 5+ years of related experience or 3+ years at a DOE laboratory.
• Experience in a DOE lab environment preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow manuals.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform maintenance of the helium refrigerator and test stands.
• Assist in assembly, installation, removal from service and maintenance of mechanical devices with documentation.
• Construct components and assemble experimental/test support equipment.
• Collaborate with technicians and engineers to support cryogenic and magnet testing facilities.
• Adhere to environmental, safety and health regulations.
