Job summary

Air Liquide Large Industries in Houston, TX, seeks a Design Specialist to deliver piping design and engineering work packages for multifaceted projects, collaborating with subject-matter experts and external partners.

The role requires designing piping systems, integrating cryogenic components, generating 3D models and 2D deliverables, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and Air Liquide policies. Strong proficiency in 3D/2D tools and project coordination is essential.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a piping design background.
Minimum of 5 years in industrial piping design and project engineering, including cryogenic or low-temperature environments.
Proficiency in 3D modeling platforms and 2D drafting tools with ability to perform clash checks.

Responsibilities

Design compliant piping systems and layouts with piping stress calculations.
Incorporate cryogenic components (vaporizers, cryogenic pumps, storage tanks, valves) into designs.
Create 3D piping models and 2D isometrics and equipment layouts.
Develop and modify piping and instrument diagrams with process engineers or vendors.
Prepare BOMs and material requisitions to support procurement and construction.
Manage design projects from conceptual design to commissioning.
Prepare project documentation and start-up readiness reviews.
Provide on-site technical support to resolve design queries.
Ensure compliance with Air Liquide HSQ&E standards and NA codes.
