Job summary

CooperSurgical is seeking a lab technician to execute SOPs for screening, processing, and preserving semen for clinical use in a California Cryobank laboratory. The role includes bench work, cryogenic procedures, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality specimens.

Responsibilities include daily equipment setup, semen preparation for IUI/ICI, post-thaw analysis, and strict quality control. Phlebotomy duties may be required, with on-site work and potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science and 2 years of experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Phlebotomy certificate (where applicable) is preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory terminology and phase-contrast microscopy skills are desirable.
• Phlebotomy experience is preferred and may be required for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proficiency with all applicable SOPs.
• Performs semen evaluations to screen, process, and preserve for future clinical use.
• Daily setup of laboratory equipment and daily QC.
• IUI/ICI semen preparation and post-thaw sample analysis.
• Cryogenic procedures including liquid nitrogen storage verifications and transfers.
• Records all quality control checks and takes corrective action when needed.
• Communicates errors or incidents to management and logs them.
• Handles routine cleaning of laboratory equipment and maintains supplies.
• Oversees aliquot inventory for media and performs donor-related tasks if required.
• As needed, performs phlebotomy duties and related specimen handling.
