Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas invites applications for an Assistant Professor (Research Track) in the Erzberger laboratory of Biophysics. The successful candidate will pursue ribosome biogenesis and function using cryo-EM, biochemistry, and genetics.

Responsibilities include protein expression/purification, cryo-EM data collection and structure modeling, and mentoring. The incumbent will contribute to manuscripts, grants, and cross-disciplinary meetings.

Qualifications

• PhD in biochemistry, structural biology, or a closely related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant research experience.
• Extensive expertise in protein biochemistry and cryo-EM structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Recombinant protein expression and purification.
• Cryo-EM specimen preparation and data collection.
• Image processing and structure determination; atomic model building.
• Development of functional assays; data interpretation and communication.
• Mentoring junior lab members; manuscript and grant preparation.
