Job summary

Compass Minerals is seeking a plant operator to support crushing and material preparation tasks in a mineral processing facility.

The role requires shift work, high school diploma, and familiarity with PC software including Excel, Word, Outlook, and ERP systems to issue work requests and track inventory. Candidates should demonstrate teamwork, safety discipline, and the ability to monitor equipment for optimal operation.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma and be able to monitor equipment for proper operation and perform tasks related to maintaining product quality.
Proficiency with PC, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information; navigate an ERP to issue work requests and review inventory.
Experience in a process plant in the mining/minerals industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conducts routine sampling of raw material fed to the process facility.
Forwards material to the control room for analysis.
Obtains a shift composite sample and forwards to the lab for analysis, continuously inspects 20-30 pieces of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility.
Visually inspects belts for proper alignment and signs of fraying or general wear.
Monitors temperatures of bearings for unusual heat.
Reports problems to the control room and logs all entries accordingly.
Monitors product spillage, proactively prevents such occurrences and cleans up accordingly.
Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor or control board operator.
