Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking a plant maintenance technician to keep crushing and screening equipment running in outdoor plant environments across the United States. You will work 10–12 hour shifts Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays during the crushing season, and may fill in as a haul truck operator.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

• Lubricate bearings and perform routine maintenance on crushers, screens and conveyors.
• Inspect, disassemble, overhaul and reassemble crushing and screening equipment.
• Start equipment to observe operation and detect problems.
• Maintain plant area safety and cleanliness from spills.
• Inspect or test failed parts and report repairs.
• Install and replace bearings, gear reducers, shafts, belts, motors.
• Perform repairs to crushers, screens, feeders, conveyors.
• Fill in as Haul Truck Operator as needed.
• Train to operate the production plant.

Job description

What You'll Be Doing

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with team members to optimize plant operations.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble
• Lubricate bearings, change parts, or perform other routine crusher, screen and conveyor maintenance
• Perform repair and maintenance involving inspection, disassembly, overhaul, assembly and adjustments of crushing and screening equipment
• Start crushers, screens and conveyors to observe mechanical operation and detect problems
• Maintain safe access of plant area from product spillage with shovels and hoses
• Inspect or test failed machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs
• Grease bearings in crushing plant according to specified procedures
• Install and replace bearings, speed reducers, shafts, pulleys, idlers, rollers, motors, belts and belt clips etc.
• Make repairs to crushers, screens, mechanical feeders, and conveyors
• Fill in as Haul Truck Operator as needed
• Train to operate the production plant

What Are We Looking For

• Available to work 10-12 hr shifts M-F 6am-4pm required and some Saturdays during crushing season.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Flexibility to work in various conditions and environments.
• Individual with a strong safety attitude interested in an outdoor work environment
• Stick welding and cutting torch experience a plus
• Ability to operate heavy equipment such as a loader or other plant equipment

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
• FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

Work Environment

• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
