Job summary

Coeur Wharf, a surface gold operation in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, is seeking a Crusher Operator to contribute to safe, productive ore processing. You will operate panel boards, monitor gauges, and coordinate with maintenance to keep the crushing system running.

Ideal candidates are outdoors-ready, physically able to lift 65 lbs, and capable of teamwork in a rotating shift schedule (5-5-4). Safety is priority; respirator use is required and adherence to procedures is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver's license and follow all safety procedures to assure safe production.
• Able to work outdoors approximately 80% of the time.
• Able to lift 65 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Able to walk on stairs and uneven ground daily.
• Team-oriented with leadership potential and strong communication.
• Respirator use is required.
• 5-5-4 Rotational Shift Schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operates panel board to control conveying, crushing, and sizing of ore for leaching.
• Monitors dials and gauges to route ore through screens and crushers.
• Notifies maintenance of delays or malfunctions and assists where needed.
• Performs minor maintenance on crushing system and cleans crusher area.
• Supervises other crusher attendants as needed and creates work orders.
• Maintains a clean, safe mine site and conducts daily safety inspections.

The Crusher Operator is responsible for the performance of the following duties in a safe and productive manner:

Responsibilities

• Operates panel board to control conveying, crushing, and sizing of ore to prepare it for leaching
• Observes dials and gauges to route ore through a series of screens and crushers
• Monitor machine amperages to determine load on conveyors and regulates loads
• Observes panel lights and meters for indication of overloads, malfunctions or plugged chutes, and shuts down plant or adjusts controls to regulate feed
• Notifies maintenance and loading personnel of delays or malfunctions
• Does minor maintenance and preventive maintenance to crushing system
• Some heavy equipment operation is necessary to clean up and feed crushing system
• Clean up crusher area including hand shoveling, skid steer operation, compressed air operating, etc.
• Some supervision of other crusher attendants
• Notifies foreman of parts that need to be replaced and of operating problems that are encountered
• Responsible for the operation of the crusher system
• Create work orders and job requests when necessary
• Maintain a clean and citation-free mine site environment
• Perform daily workplace and equipment safety inspections

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Valid Driver's License
• Follow all procedures and safety measures such as, confined space, working at heights, etc., to assure safe production
• Work in all conditions and environments, approximately 80% of job is outdoors
• Able to lift 65 lbs. on an occasional basis
• Able to walk up and down slopes and uneven ground daily
• Able to travel up and down stairs on a regular basis
• Work as a team member and communicate openly with others
• Self-directed and able to take leadership role on many projects
• Willing to stop work for safety concerns and always abide by safety best practices, policies and procedures

Preferred Background/education

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• A vocational-technical college degree

Additional Information

Willing to work alternating between 5 work days, 5 days off, 4 night shifts, and 5 more days off.
