Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a Crusher Helper to support crushing operations by cleaning, inspecting, and servicing crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient material processing.

You’ll join a safety-focused team in a quarry environment, handling duties from lubrication and basic repairs to reporting equipment issues, while following lockout/tagout procedures and wearing required PPE daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical training or 1–2 year degree preferred.
• Ability to learn new tasks and procedures.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and tool use.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety compliance with company, state, and regulatory policies.
• Keep conveyors, crushers, screens, and work areas clean and free of debris.
• Assist with clearing obstructions and improving production.
• Support lubrication, inspections, and basic repairs.
• Monitor belt alignment and assist with adjustments.
• Report issues and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping and complete assigned projects.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Crusher Helper supports crushing operations by cleaning, inspecting, and servicing crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment to minimize downtime, maintain safe operations, and ensure efficient material processing.

Responsibilities & Expectations

• Maintain compliance with all company, state, and regulatory safety requirements and policies.
• Keep conveyor systems, crushers, screens, catwalks, and work areas free of material buildup and debris.
• Assist crusher operators with clearing screens and removing obstructions that impact production.
• Support maintenance activities including lubrication, greasing, inspections, and basic repairs.
• Monitor conveyor belt alignment and assist with corrective adjustments as needed.
• Report equipment issues, unsafe conditions, and operational concerns promptly.
• Participate in and comply with lockout/tagout, confined space, and other critical safety procedures.
• Perform assigned duties efficiently while maintaining high housekeeping standards.
• Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality; may be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or be on call to support operational needs.
• Perform physically demanding work for extended periods, including standing, bending, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, and reaching.
• Access all areas of the quarry, including climbing stairs and ladders, working at heights, entering confined spaces and accessing tunnels.
• Work primarily outdoors in a quarry environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and precipitation and high noise levels, dust, fumes, oils and lime/mineral particles.
• Ability to see, hear, communicate, and maintain situational awareness in an industrial environment around moving equipment, conveyors, and mobile equipment, including responding appropriately to alarms, signals, and changing conditions.
• May be required to sit for extended periods to operate equipment over rough, uneven terrain, if needed.
• Occasionally lift/carry 50 pounds.
• Pulling a maximum force of 60 lbf.

Required Education

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Education

• Technical training or Associate’s degree in a related field.

Required Experience

• None.

Preferred Experience

• 1-2 years of experience in mining, quarrying, or heavy manufacturing.
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Basic ability to use digital systems for work orders, training, timekeeping, or operational reporting.
