Job summary

Lhoist North America is seeking a maintenance professional to inspect, repair, and rebuild plant equipment. The role covers mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, with troubleshooting across drives, PLCs, and control circuits.

Responsibilities include PMs, bearing and belt replacements, and maintenance of electrical test equipment. A Texas driver’s license and willingness to work extended shifts are required, as is adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining plant equipment in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams and schematics.
• Possess or be eligible for Texas driver’s license.
• Willingness to work extended shifts and overtime as needed.
• Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on plant operating equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs) and routine service tasks.
• Troubleshoot and repair drives, PLCs, and control circuits.
• Repair and replace bearings, gearboxes, belts, and related components.
• Ensure safety practices and document inspections and maintenance activities.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and tool readiness.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Maintenance

• Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment.
• Conduct accurate PMs.
• Possess troubleshooting, service, and repair skills for all plant operating equipment.
• Disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
• Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings.
• Perform shaft alignments using precision tools.
• Apply knowledge of pneumatic systems.
• Use equipment manuals, parts lists or blueprints to install, repair, or order parts.
• Process CMMS work orders and checklists accurately.

Electrical

• Troubleshoot and repair parts on drives.
• Diagnose hydraulic systems and air cylinders.
• Expertise in PLCs and control circuits.
• Install and align electrical motors.
• Setup and troubleshoot A/C drives.
• Perform routine mechanical tasks such as replacement of bearings, idlers, dust‑collector bags, gearboxes, and drive belts.
• Handle control circuit troubleshooting with limited supervision.
• Perform basic electrical calculations.
• Operate all electrical test equipment (multimeters, meggers, current generators, Hart communicators, etc.).
• Fabricate and install conduit.
• Perform soldering operations.
• Maintain motor control circuits.

Inventory

• Ensure all inventory parts are correctly charged from store.
• Confirm all parts are available before starting a job.

Safety

• Be well‑versed in all aspects of safety.
• Comply with company, state, and regulatory health and safety regulations.
• Complete and document workplace inspections promptly.
• Maintain maintenance tools in good condition, repairing or replacing them when necessary.

Training

• Upgrade skills through vendor and company‑designated training.
• Receive training on new equipment installations.

Attributes

• Proficient mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting.
• Industrial background with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of mechanical equipment in an industrial plant.
• Read and understand one‑line diagrams & schematics.
• Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desirable.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Own a telephone and be open to callouts.
• Work extended shifts to complete repairs and keep critical equipment running.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and peers.
• Operate a computer proficiently.
• Hold a valid Texas driver’s license.
• Self‑starter, capable of working with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

• Tolerate outdoor work in severe weather, high temperatures, noise, and dust.
• Access all site areas, including heights of 120 ft, confined spaces, ladders, stairs, and tunnels.
• Lift up to 75 pounds.
• Work shifts seven days a week, including holidays, with flexibility for overtime.
