Job summary

American Cruise Lines is seeking Engineers to manage the technical operation of our ships sailing itineraries along inland and coastal waterways. You will oversee propulsion, auxiliary, and electrical systems, coordinating with Captains and Hotel Officers to ensure five-star guest service and safe operations.

Role requires 12-hour days onboard, 4 weeks on/4 weeks off, and full-time exempt status. This position emphasizes maintenance, safety, and teamwork in a dynamic maritime environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with diesel machinery, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of shipboard machinery and auxiliary systems.
  • TWIC card required.
  • Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing.
  • Ability to live and work on board for extended periods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all shipboard machinery.
  • Provide 24-hour response for technical issues.
  • Support vessel docking and maintenance as needed.
  • Implement maintenance schedules to keep equipment in optimal condition.
  • Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.
  • Document maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
  • Oversee safety procedures and crew adherence.
