University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority is seeking a Clinical Research Unit Lab Specialist (Finance) to support sample processing and study visits. The role involves lab setup, receiving specimens, verifying orders, and maintaining the CRU sample log, with no weekends and a standard 7:30am–4:00pm schedule.

Ideal candidates have lab/healthcare experience, familiarity with QA practices, and MLS/MLT-related background.

Qualifications

• No minimum education; required.
• Some post-secondary education in healthcare or related science; coursework in MLT/Cytotechnologist/Histotechnician/MLS preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 6 months experience in lab or healthcare required.
• 1 year healthcare or lab-related experience preferred.
• Experience with sample collection and sample processing preferred.
• Experience with quality assurance and good laboratory practices preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic to moderately complex lab set-up and sample processing per protocols.
• Verify provider orders for research samples and required UW Health labs for upcoming visits.
• Receive research specimens and check labels and paperwork for accuracy.
• Identify required research kits and coordinate with study teams via CRU charge nurse.
• Create and maintain the CRU sample log daily, tracking samples collected, stored and picked up.
