Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare's Harrisburg Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist for night shifts in Harrisburg, IL. This part-time role supports patient care in a busy respiratory department.

Candidates must hold an Associate’s Degree in respiratory therapy, CRT and RCP credentials with Illinois, BLS, and NRP within 90 days of hire. The successful applicant will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, educate patients, and help coordinate daily operations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from a respiratory accredited program.
• CRT certification required.
• RCP licensure in Illinois required.
• BLS certification required.
• NRP certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patient outcomes and adjusts plans of care within the multidisciplinary team.
• Provides explanations and instructions to patients and/or responsible persons regarding respiratory disease processes, intervention procedures and discharge.
• Accepts reassignment to other units when necessary.
• Shares clinical knowledge with staff and students and acts as a role model for clinical practice.
• Performs preceptor duties for staff and students.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates the effectiveness of respiratory care.
• Provides respiratory care as ordered by physicians, maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff.
• Leads: coordinates workflow to utilize personnel efficiently.
• Leads: assist with orientation of new employees/students.
• Leads: assist manager/supervisor with daily operations of the department.
