Job summary

South Washington County Schools is seeking a Crossing Guard Paraprofessional at Bailey Elementary School to provide a safe traveling environment for students walking to and from school.

This part-time role (0.25 hour per day, 9:00–9:15 a.m.) starts ASAP with a starting base pay of $21.93 per hour, plus potential raise to $22.43 with Highly Qualified status; benefits are offered and the position follows the school calendar.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Attend all adult crossing guard meetings as required.
• Perform fall and spring evaluations of patrols.
• Organize and chaperone events for patrols.
• Maintain and update school safety patrol equipment.
• Meet quarterly with the school safety patrols.
• Maintain boundaries, confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Ensure fairness, respect, and equity for all students.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide a safe traveling environment for all students walking to and from school.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS

• Directly supervises the safe crossing of students at designated hazardous crosswalks.
• Assist the school principal in the appointment of student school safety patrols.
• Maintain an accurate list of the school safety patrols. Provide accurate list to the Transportation Student Safety/Crossing Guard Manager.
• Monitor, document, and offer corrective behavior measures to student school safety patrols and student pedestrians. Report student school safety patrols to the school principal if there are issues and behaviors that cannot be immediately remedied.
• Attend all adult crossing guard meetings as required.
• Perform fall and spring evaluations of student school safety patrols.
• Assist with organizing, coordinating and chaperoning events for student school safety patrols.
• Maintain and update all school safety patrol equipment.
• Meet quarterly with the school safety patrols.
• Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Maintain a high level of fairness, confidentiality, respect and equity for all students, staff and families.
• Other duties as assigned.
