Maintain control of children and vehicular traffic at crossing sites to ensure that children cross safely at designated sites.

Scope of Duties

• Direct actions of children at street intersections to ensure safe crossing.
• Record license numbers of vehicles disregarding traffic signals and report infractions to the police.
• Observe vehicles and pedestrians near school crosswalks to report suspicious activity.
• Notify authorities of uncooperative or abusive children.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance, with a goal of only 2 excused absences per year.
• Follow all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately to the field supervisor, or by the end of the shift.
• Provide exceptional customer service to promote a positive image and foster professionalism in the community.

Supervision

Reports to Andy Frain Services' Field Supervisor. Exercises no supervision.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of local geography and key landmarks.
• Ability to observe objectively and report clearly.
• React calmly and quickly in emergencies.
• Good general intelligence and emotional stability.
• Tactful interaction skills with the public, especially children.
• Minimum 18 years old.
• Physically capable of performing duties in any weather conditions.
• Ability to read, interpret safety rules, instructions, and manuals; and communicate effectively in English.
• Attend a mandatory School Crossing Guard class.

Tools and Equipment

• Stop Paddle, Reflective Vest, Whistle, with optional equipment such as cell phone, rain gear, gloves, reflective cap, first aid kit, and traffic cones.
