Job description

STOP: PLEASE READ FIRST: You are applying to the Child Watch Afternoon Shift Position. You must have availability Monday-Thursday 5:30 PM-8:00 PM and Saturdays 8:00 AM-12:00 PM to apply for this position. This position requires availability the third Saturday of every month from 5 PM-10 PM for Parent's Night Out.

DESCRIPTION:

Enjoy watching kids, playing games, and keeping things fun? We are currently taking applications for a Child Watch Attendant. The Child Watch Attendant supervises children in the YMCA member nursery. This position is responsible for providing safe and enjoyable childcare for members and their children in accordance with the YMCA Mission and policies of the association. Maintain visual and auditory supervision at all times. He/She must be responsible for the safety and well-being of each child under their supervision and maintain a creative and playful atmosphere for all participants. They plan and supervise the activities of children and perform general housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe area.

Child Watch Attendants are required to know and follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures. He/She must attend staff meetings and training programs, as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Child Watch Attendants are required to be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  2. Have a positive attitude and follow directions.
  3. Relate to children, members, and other staff in a positive manner.
  4. Ability to plan and initiate age-appropriate games and activities.
  5. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  6. Ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease.
  7. Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
  8. Must be able to receive and maintain CPR, First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogen, Child Abuse Training & Drug and Alcohol Abuse training certifications.
  9. Six months or more previous experience with children preferred.
