Job summary

Mesa County seeks an Accountant to help create timely financial statements and maintain ledgers. You will rotate through Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting to support operations and staff; strong communication with citizens and vendors is essential.

You’ll interact with Budget, Grants, and HR teams, process invoices, generate reports, and ensure compliance with GASB standards in a dynamic county environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance from an accredited institution.
• Two years of progressively responsible accounting or finance work.
• Familiarity with GASB standards and government accounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enter transactions and maintain the general ledger, journals, and ledgers.
• Prepare and support periodic financial reports and schedules for management.
• Reconcile accounts and assist with annual audits and internal controls.
• Process accounts payable/receivable and assist cross-functional teams.
• Support asset records, depreciation entries, and inventory reconciliations.
• Participate in process improvements and special projects.
