Job summary

Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, VA, seeks a Middle School Cross Country Head Coach to plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions under the athletic director and varsity coach. You will train, motivate, and guide athletes to compete with character and excellence.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree, VHSL coaching certification or eligibility, and a Christian witness. You’ll promote sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork within a faith-based athletic program.

Qualifications

• Hold at minimum a bachelor’s degree.
• Possess experience teaching/coaching Track & Field at a high-level secondary school or college.
• Be of outstanding Christian character and witness.
• Have a sound Christian philosophy of education and athletic competition.
• Creative and energetic.
• Strong moral values and discipline.
• Must be certified or can be certified through the VHSL’s coaching education plan.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance of VHSL rules, regulations, and policies pertaining to athletic programs.
• Promote a favorable testimony of the school district.
• Work with the athletic director to evaluate program needs.
• Promote proper use and care of school property.
• Communicate effectively with team, staff, parents, administration, community, and media.
• Handle financial items for the athletic program, including inventory and equipment purchases.
• Complete VHSL-required master eligibility forms.

Cross Country Coach - Middle School

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Middle School Cross Country Head Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director and Varsity Cross Country Head Coach in accordance with the mission of Liberty Christian Academy, planning, organizing, and conducting practice sessions. Provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation in order to prepare athletes for meets. Run the middle school program.The coach must work within the framework of the overall athletic program at LCA and must understand the importance of working with the coaches of other sports to reach a common goal. The coach is responsible for teaching and training athletes to reach their full potential as a Christian, good citizen and the most successful runner that they can be. Sportsmanship and discipline is of utmost importance and the coach must be the example that others can follow. The coach must oversee the entire middle school program

SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP:

• Act as the spiritual leader of school and community.
• Show evidence of a consistent time of personal Bible study, prayer and outreach.
• Maintain a Christ-like attitude.
