Job summary

Federal Way Public Schools in Kent, WA seeks a high school assistant coach to foster student-athlete growth through skill instruction and emphasis on academics, leadership, and positive social relationships.

As a member of the coaching staff, you will attend practices and contests, uphold WIAA rules, promote the program in the school and community, and ensure safety and proper equipment management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior sport-specific playing and/or coaching experience in a secondary/post-secondary athletics program.
• Proven training and experience in presentation of drills, safety factors, and proper application of skills.
• Work scheduled hours on a consistent basis.
• Two or more years of paid high school and/or post-secondary sport-specific coaching experience.
• Completion of the National Federation Coaching Fundamentals Course (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Professional development and leadership; stay current with sport techniques.
• Promote the sport within the school and community; report scores promptly.
• Attend practices and contests daily; implement the head coach's system.
• Model safety, basic first aid, and knowledge of athletic training basics.
• Ensure eligibility rules are understood and followed; supervise program safety.
• Oversee equipment, facilities, and reporting of safety concerns.

Education
