Job summary

A regional school district is seeking a Special Education / Cross Category Teacher to support students' individual education plans, maintain behavior standards, and facilitate collaboration with general education teachers. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in education and a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate. An additional stipend of $6,000 is offered. Performance Responsibilities

Program Planning and Evaluation

• Acts as classroom teacher providing support and/or monitoring all areas of the Individualized Education Plan.
• Administers, transfers, and interprets diagnostic data as appropriate to his/her area.

• Kinds of communication: Faculty meetings; Grade-level and special education meetings; Dissemination of pertinent announcements and procedures; Parent–student–teacher conferences; Professional literature; Relate to the principals and special education coordinator all items of school concern; Submit reports to the administration and the special education department as needed.

Supervision

• Maintains proper and adequate supervision of students at all times.
• Assists in supervising students in related activities outside of immediate classroom.
• Acts as direct supervisor for classroom paraprofessionals.

Professional Growth

• Possesses a broad knowledge of special education and is able to transfer this knowledge into program activities.
• Responsible for maintaining his/her personal growth and development in the areas of special education.
• Reads professional literature pertinent to the field of special education.
• Willing to participate in self-evaluation activities in order to improve one’s self/professional outlook.

Terms of Employment

• Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board.
• Additional $6,000 Special Education Teacher Stipend Provided.
