Job description

American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is seeking a Crop Insurance Claims Adjuster to work remotely in Indianapolis, Indiana, and surrounding areas. As a member of our Claims Team, you will be responsible for loss adjustment, pre-acceptance, and quality control activities for Crop Hail and Federally Reinsured Crop Insurance products.

Reporting to the Claims Supervisor, the Crop Insurance Claims Adjuster will be responsible for:

1. Communicating directly with insureds to perform loss adjustments, pre-acceptance, or quality control inspections to gather facts involved with claim settlements.
2. Staying updated on crop insurance industry procedures related to claim adjustments.
3. Analyzing and recommending enhancements for company software to ensure compliance with company and RMA procedures.
4. Performing claim audits and reviews.

Qualifications for this position include:

1. Bachelor's degree and/or 2+ years of claims adjusting experience.
2. Crop insurance experience, especially in claims.
3. Knowledge of Crop Hail and Multi-Peril Insurance policies, endorsements, and claims adjusting procedures.
4. Understanding of farming practices and crops typical to the territory.
5. Ability to obtain and maintain necessary adjuster certifications and licenses.
6. Valid driver's license.
7. Ability to interpret policy information and procedures.
8. Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
9. Excellent communication skills.
10. Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

Essential functions and physical demands include:

1. Ability to drive for extended periods.
2. Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, within the home state and adjoining states.
3. Ability to climb grain bins or storage structures and walk on uneven ground in fields.

The starting salary range is approximately $50,000 to $75,000, depending on experience and other factors. We do not sponsor employment visas; applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
