UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics (CCP) is hiring a Casual Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner for our Pediatric Express Care clinic in Hummelstown, PA.

Hours: Casual evening and weekend shifts (Weekdays 5pm-9pm, Saturday 12pm - 8pm, Sunday 10am - 6pm)

Location: UPMC Children's Express Care - Hummelstown

Position Specifics: CCP Express Care is an outpatient after-hours pediatric clinic providing treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.

Staff/Senior Level:

The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply basic professional practice knowledge and skills appropriate for the practice setting. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in documentation. Demonstrate critical thinking in all areas of professional practice. Incorporate acceptable standards of professional practice as well as business unit and health system's goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction. Formulate a care plan considering individual patient needs. Seek opportunities to improve clinical practice and ask questions to learn. Build relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Recognize ethical situations and seek guidance. Accept assignments that gradually increase in patient load and complexity.
  • Engage in the clinical development of all healthcare team members. Seek opportunities to learn advanced practice techniques from senior team members. Use performance feedback to improve practice. Demonstrate enthusiasm for continuous learning. Provide basic education to support patient care. Participate in professional organizations and read professional literature regularly.
