Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) per diem to join the Anesthesia and Critical Care team serving patients at HUP and PPMC in Philadelphia. The CRNA will perform preop assessments, assist with monitoring, and provide various anesthesia types under supervision of anesthesiologists.

Responsibilities include equipment checks, patient prep, intraoperative management, postoperative handoff, and participation in Quality Improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Master's Degree from an approved CRNA program is required.
• 0–1 year of accredited anesthesia school experience is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Make preoperative visits, assess patient condition and plan anesthesia with physician supervision.
• Assemble, prepare, and test needed supplies and equipment prior to anesthesia.
• Apply and monitor arterial, CVP, SG catheter lines and other monitoring equipment.
• Administer inhalation, intravenous, spinal, epidural and nerve block anesthesia.
• Maintain anesthetic state and inform team of patient condition during surgery.
• Record anesthesia data and drugs in patient charting as required.
• Assist in postoperative care and handoff to receiving staff.
• Participate in Cardiac Resuscitation Team and clinical teaching.
• Perform equipment maintenance and participate in departmental Quality Improvement.
