Job summary

UHA University Health Associates is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide anesthetic care in collaboration with the supervising physician. The role emphasizes airway management, monitoring, and rapid, safe induction, maintenance, and emergence of anesthesia in high-volume cases.

The CRNA will participate in pre-anesthetic evaluation, plan of care, and post-operative management, while ensuring infection control, patient safety, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN with APRN(Nurse Anesthetist) in WV is required.
• Board Certification/Recertification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains excellence in airway management and use of airway adjuncts.
• Minimizes infection risks to patients and staff.
• Participates in pre-anesthetic evaluation and selection of anesthetic techniques.
• Inserts IV catheters and invasive monitoring as per protocol; performs intubation/extubation; draws arterial blood gas samples.
• Monitors patient responses to anesthesia and informs anesthesiologist of adverse conditions; manages induction, maintenance, and emergence.
• Assesses need for labs and provides post-operative evaluation and resuscitation.
• Documents patient status in the anesthesia record.
• Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and prepares supplies.
• Reviews informed consent and correctly identifies surgical site during SBAR with team.
• Communicates effectively with peri-operative and post-operative teams.
• Provides anesthesia care in the absence of an anesthesiologist if needed.
• Assists with teaching and evaluation of students and new staff.
• Assumes accountability for controlled substances per policy and law.
• Provides anesthesia conducive to rapid turnover and high case volume.
