Job summary

Duke Eye Center at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC seeks a certified registered nurse anesthetist for full-time coverage. The CRNA will administer anesthesia, monitor patients, and manage medications for surgical procedures in a specialized eye care setting.

Shifts are Monday through Friday, 10-hour days with no nights or weekends; rotation for holiday call. New grads welcome; education and licensure requirements apply, with relocation and CME incentives available.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited MSN or DNP or DNAP CNRA program.
• CRNA certification required; eligibility by AANA for new grads.
• Current RN licensure with approval to practice as a CRNA.

Responsibilities

• Administer general anesthetics during surgical, obstetrical and other medical procedures.
• Determine and prepare drugs, supplies and equipment for anesthesia administration.
• Monitor vital signs and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.
• Prepare patients for anesthesia and document anesthesia details.
• Supervise student nurse anesthetists and educate residents and interns.
• Disassemble equipment and maintain a clean work area; report repairs as needed.
• Maintain records of each anesthetic and produce periodic activity reports.
• Perform other related duties as required.
