Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations and assess medical history.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Administer anesthetic drugs and controlled substances.
  • Select and insert invasive and noninvasive monitoring modalities.
  • Perform point-of-care testing.
  • Plan and initiate general, regional, local, or sedation anesthesia.
  • Respond to emergencies with airway management.
  • Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
  • Maintain detailed anesthetic records in the EMR.
