Job summary

HTU in Metairie, LA is seeking a Nurse Anesthetist (APRN) to administer anesthesia during surgical and obstetrical procedures under physician supervision. You will collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff to ensure safe patient care and accurate documentation.

The role requires a master’s degree in nurse anesthesia (AANA-accredited), APRN licensure, AANA certification, and BCLS. Proficiency with Windows and strong communication are essential, with a flexible 24/7 schedule

Qualifications

• Collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff involved in patient care.
• Assess patients before, during, and after anesthesia administration.
• Ensure patient safety by following accepted anesthesia practice techniques.
• Document patient procedures and incidents accurately.
• Act as a liaison to surgeons, anesthesiologists, co-workers, patients, and families.
• Participate in department quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities.
• Adapt communication and behavior to respect patient privacy and meet specific patient population needs.
• Perform other related duties as required.

About You

The company is looking for:

• Master’s degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice.
• Certification through the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
• Computer skills including proficiency with Windows applications and keyboard dexterity for data entry and patient information retrieval.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills to present information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including 24/7 availability, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.

Physical and Environmental Demands

• Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and stand for prolonged periods.
• Work involves exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and potential occupational risks related to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
• Work performed in patient care areas with direct patient interaction.
