The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. (RFMH) is seeking 2 full-time Critical Time Intervention (CTI) Trainer and Implementation Specialists to provide training, coaching, consulting, and technical assistance to CTI and Safe Options Support (SOS) Teams across New York State. These roles are within I CONECT at the Center for Practice Innovations (CPI), reporting to the I CONECT Director and CTI Supervisor, and overseen by the NYS OMH Bureau of Rehabilitation Services, Treatment, and Care Coordination.

About CTI and SOS Teams: CTI is an evidence-based, time-limited, phase-based care management model aimed at improving continuity of care during transitional periods such as hospital to community. It promotes community integration, self-advocacy, and access to support by strengthening individuals' connections with support systems. SOS Teams focus on engaging with service recipients to secure safe housing and develop self-management skills, especially for individuals transitioning from homelessness to stable housing.

Organization Context: CPI, located at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, aims to promote integrated care, share best practices, and provide training in culturally humble, person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed care practices for behavioral health professionals throughout New York State.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate is a self-directed team player committed to culturally humble, trauma-informed, person-centered approaches, with a data-driven mindset. They should be open to learning about cultural humility and possess a strong understanding of person-centered practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead or co-lead training efforts to develop core competencies and best practices in care management.
  2. Lead or co-lead technical assistance projects like learning communities and quality improvement initiatives.
  3. Create culturally humble training materials, including online modules, webinars, and in-person sessions.
  4. Develop implementation tools such as guides and workbooks for diverse care management stakeholders.
  5. Assist in ongoing needs assessments with the director and CTI supervisor.
  6. Stay informed about relevant policies, practices, and emerging issues in mental health and substance use.
  7. Travel throughout NYS for in-person training and support.
  8. Collaborate with content development units and external partners to develop online training modules.
  9. Support data collection efforts through evaluations and surveys.
  10. Assist in creating marketing materials and writing/editing newsletters and project summaries.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years, Master’s degree with 4 years, or Doctorate with 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Lived experience with mental health/substance recovery can substitute for formal education.
  • At least 2 years of experience facilitating training/workshops and providing technical assistance.
  • Experience with evidence-based integrated treatment practices.
  • Reside in the NY Metro area with ability to travel within NYS and overnight as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and comfort with statewide travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting dissemination and implementation in diverse communities.
  • Lived experience with mental health/substance use recovery.
