Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc is seeking an Expert UPS Technician for critical power systems maintenance and installation in Salt Lake City, Utah. The role focuses on UPS and battery systems, startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance for critical power infrastructure, with leadership responsibilities on project teams.

You will train and mentor junior technicians, coordinate with contractors and clients, travel up to 50% to multiple job sites, and uphold safety standards

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Perform UPS system replacements, new installations, startups, and certifications.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on UPS and battery systems with minimal supervision.
• Install, diagnose, repair, and commission all types of UPS systems and related equipment.
• Lead project teams, providing guidance and support to crew members of varying skill levels.
• Collaborate effectively with general contractors, subcontractors, partners, and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, ATS, and AC/DC rectifiers.
• Communicate clearly with co-workers, sales teams, engineering partners, management, and clients.
• Assess manpower and material requirements for maintenance and installation services.
• Estimate consumables and connectivity parts needed for project completion.
• Monitor crew productivity and safety, taking action when necessary to maintain a safe and effective work environment.
• Foster a positive team environment and contribute to a culture of cooperation and high morale.
• Train and mentor less experienced technicians, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Travel up to 50% to other job sites as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of experience servicing UPS systems.
• Technical experience with electrical and mechanical systems related to UPS, DC systems, and familiarity with major OEMs (e.g., Eaton, Mitsubishi, Schneider, APC, GE, Emerson).
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters, amp clamps, phase rotation meters, power quality analyzers, IR cameras, and oscilloscopes.
• Understanding of proper use of isolation devices, arc-flash suits, and PPE.
• Competency in series, parallel, and series-parallel connections.
• Ability to interpret torque values, apply torque marks, and visually inspect completed installations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• NFPA-70E Safety Training.
• Thermography Level 2 or higher certification.
• Ability to travel up to 50% as required.
• U.S. citizenship required.
