Job summary

Central Power Systems & Services is seeking a Critical Power Technician to service standby generators, transfer switches, switchgear and related accessories. The role includes an 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM schedule with overtime and an on-call rotation for after-hours field work.

You will install, start-up and commission systems, diagnose PLCs, AC/DC and switchgear, and coordinate with electrical contractors. Some overnight travel may be required and a strong HV/generator background is essential.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience with higher voltage generator maintenance (CAT, Kohler, Cummins).
• 3+ years' generator maintenance experience.
• Electrical and mechanical knowledge of diesel-powered generators.
• On-call availability and overtime as needed.
• Graduation from a technical school preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of critical power systems installation, start-up and commissioning.
• Perform diagnostic and repair procedures on generators, PLCs, AC/DC, and switch gears.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on power generation equipment including gas and diesel engines, generators, and transfer switches.
• Coordinate with installing electrical contractors.
• Oversee correction of issues arising from commissioning.
• Become familiar with working off-site and with mining companies.
• Testing and troubleshooting various sized generators.
