Job summary

JLL is seeking a Critical Infrastructure / Operating Engineer to support a highly secure financial services environment and a disaster recovery data center. You will maintain 100% uptime by operating electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems; monitor performance; and manage vendor activities.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, routine rounds, alarm response, and log/documentation upkeep. Requires Local 68 status, relevant licenses, and after-hours availability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
• New Jersey Blue Seal Refrigeration License and Boiler Operator License required.
• EPA Universal CFC certification.
• Union Local 68 member in good standing is required.

Critical Infrastructure Engineer (Operating Engineer - Local 68)

Location: Moonachie and Jersey City (BMO Bank - Secure Asset Storage Facility)

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with responsibilities split between two sites (Moonachie, NJ and Jersey City, NJ).

• Must be available for emergency coverage and after-hours work in accordance with client procedures

• Available to cover multiple client locations as needed.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Critical Infrastructure / Operating Engineer to support a highly secure, mission-critical financial services environment and a disaster recovery data center with associated office space. This role is responsible for maintaining 100% uptime through operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, along with monitoring performance and managing vendor activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems
• Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs (self-perform where applicable)
• Conduct routine rounds, testing, and system performance analysis
• Assist with and follow MOPs, SOPs, and procedures for critical equipment
• Monitor and respond to system alarms and emergencies
• Oversee vendors and contractors performing OEM maintenance and repairs
• Maintain logs, drawings, and system documentation
• Support day-to-day facility operations and client needs

Maintenance & Quality Control

• Maintain HVAC and associated equipment, including cleaning, inspecting, calibrating, and parts replacement
• Perform maintenance on fire/life safety, plumbing, structural, and control systems
• Review service requests to identify and resolve recurring issues
• Evaluate vendor performance, pricing, and quality of work
• Ensure accurate deliveries and maintain inventory of tools and materials
• Follow proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
• Member in good standing of Local 68
• Universal CFC EPA Certification

• OSHA 10 Certification
• New Jersey Blue Seal Refrigeration License
• New Jersey Black Seal Boiler Operator License

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair building infrastructure systems independently
• Ability to read HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and architectural drawings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade school, union apprenticeship, military service, or college education
• 5+ years in a mission-critical or financial services environment
• Experience with DCIM / MCIM systems
• Experience with Corrigo CMMS, ALC BAS, Siemens BAS

Technical Expertise

Electrical: ATS, UPS, STS, PDU, generators, switchgear, fuel systems
Mechanical: Chillers, cooling towers, pumps, CRAC/CRAH, AHUs, heat pumps, plumbing
Fire/Life Safety: Pre-Action Systems
Controls: BMS, DDC, CMMS
General: Doors, locks, walls, ceilings, and basic construction

Work Requirements

• Support a highly secure, mission-critical financial services environment and a disaster recovery data center environment with zero tolerance for downtime
• Available for after-hours work and emergency response per client requirements
• Maintain professionalism and composure during high-pressure situations
• Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, hot work, and impairment procedures

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent walking, climbing ladders/stairs, bending, kneeling, and lifting
• Ability to inspect machinery and respond to visual/auditory alarms

Estimated compensation for this position:

70,000.00 - 110,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
