Job summary

Amazon is seeking an Critical Infrastructure Electrical Engineer, Field Engineering, to provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design through maintenance. You will troubleshoot, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver design solutions for upgrades while coordinating with operations, design, hardware, and EHS teams.

The role requires 3+ years in relevant engineering sectors and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities, or similar sectors.
• Experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities is preferred.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, submittal documents, and applicable building codes.
• Data analytics and scripting skills for large data sets.

• Diagnose and document site/equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation.
• Support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex procedure reviews, and event support.
• Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades adding capacity, reliability, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with internal teams to promote consistent, reliable services.
• Develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers and manage concurrent projects across multiple regions.
• Lead engineering audits, produce reports outlining risks, recommended mitigations, and remediation plans.
• Serve as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.

Overview

As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the go‑to engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, using your expertise to troubleshoot, conduct root‑cause analysis, support operational issues, and deliver design solutions for data center upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and document site/equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ cumulative years of experience with industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering in data centers, power generation, oil/gas facilities, or similar sectors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment relevant to data centers (e.g., UPS, diesel generators, switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, transfer switches, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, fans, economizers).
• Direct experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Experience as resident engineer or hands‑on field design consultant or owner’s engineer.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittal documents, and applicable building codes.
• Experience carrying design concepts from exploration through deployment/mass production.
• Data analytics and scripting skills, with comfort working with large data sets.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
