Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Critical Facility Technician in Raleigh, NC to maintain and repair building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and related trades.

You will work under supervision, support back-shift rotations, and contribute to safe, reliable operations in a large, unionized facility. Minimum 6+ years in commercial facilities required; must read and follow safety procedures and operate hand/power tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6+ years of experience in commercial facilities.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures and motors.
  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in wall and ceilings.
  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining caulking, trims, and seals around architectural systems and machinery.
  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities

The Critical Facility Technician performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical work in and around the facility. The y will report to the ir assigned Manager or Lead with potential to support new work and back-shift rotations. This position is covered by the CBA for Industrial, Technical and Professional Employees Union, OPEIU Local 4873.

  • Replacing electrical receptables, wires, switches, fixtures and motors
  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in wall and ceilings
  • Replacing sinks, water cooler, and toilets.
  • Painting structures and equipment
  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
  • Replacing damaged paneling, floor tiles, and ceiling tiles
  • Hanging doors and installing door locks
  • Replacing broken windowpanes
  • Inspecting, repairing, and maintaining caulking, trims, and seals around architectural systems and machinery
  • Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery
  • Clearing clogged drains and drain lines.
  • Minor repair of mechanical systems including but not limited to; pumps, belts and pulleys, bearings, switches, and filters
  • Use appropriate safety equipment such as self-contained suits or protective eyewear dependent on the area or covering medium requirements.
  • Performing inspections and log taking on non-complex machinery, systems, and spaces
  • Aid and assist skilled tradesmen while under direct supervision
  • Perform any and all duties associated with the responsibilities of a standard laborer
  • Ability to differentiate between colors
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 6+ years of experience working in commercial facilities.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

Abilities
  • The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to [50 pounds] on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
  • Relocates a 12 foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
  • Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events).
  • See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Pay Range

USD $34.00 - USD $42.00 /Hr.
